Moving North Network
– moving dance film from the basement to the first floor
Moving North Network is an artist driven network for dance film makers and dance film supporters in the Nordic and Baltic regions. The Network will develop a manifesto, host workshops and screenings of dance films. Furthermore, the network will create conversations around the practice of Dance film making and go into dialogue with the community and audiences by hosting talks and network facilities.
The initiative for the network was taken by Danish dance film maker and curator Maia Elisabeth Sørensen in 2022 and in close collaboration with fellow founders of dansefilm.dk – director Helle Pagter and administrator and fundraiser Jens Christian Jensen – the network found its first collaborators in Icelandic dance film director and creator of Physical Cinema Festival Helena Jonsdottir, Finnish dance film maker and curator Kati Kallio and directors Marianna Mørkøre and Rannvá Karadottir from Faroese company Rammatik.
The network has received 20,000 EUR from Nordic Culture Point for the one-year network from April 2024 to March 2025 and 100,000 DKK from Nordic Culture Fund for the network and for hosting workshop at the Faroe Islands in the summer of 2025.
The network is supported by Nordic Culture Point, Nordic-Baltic Mobility and Nordic Culture Fund.
In May 2024 we had our first meeting in the network in Tórshavn in Faroe Islands.
